The Squad course provides swimmers with the skills and knowledge of how to train, race, be a considerate team member and above all else, realise their full potential.

Squad One Entry Requirements:
Stroke Development Five certification or completed assessment from Swim am byth supervisors
What you'll learn (units):
  • Competing at Swim am byth race nights
  • Competency of pace clock usage for rest and start times
  • Backstroke start with correct pull out and swim 25 metres
  • Freestyle, Breaststroke and Butterfly track starts with correct pull outs and swim 25 metres
  • Effective technique for 100 metres in all four strokes
Completion Requirements:
Swimmers must successfully complete each unit of study to meet the course requirements and graduate with a Squad One  certification.
 
Squad Two Entry Requirements:
Squad One certification or completed assessment from Swim am byth supervisors 
What you'll learn (units):
  • Competing at area championship level
  • Competency and composure shown for required drills 
  • Effective technique for 200 metres in all four strokes
  • Individual Medley with correct start, turns and finishes for 400 metres
  • Training sets required for the next level
Completion Requirements:
Swimmers must successfully complete each unit of study to meet the course requirements and graduate with a Squad Two certification.
 
Squad Three Entry Requirements:
Squad Two certification or completed assessment from Swim am byth supervisors 
What you'll learn (units):
  • Competing at regional championship level
  • Attendance of a minimum of 5 sessions per week
  • Competency and composure shown for required drills
  • Racing form strokes for 200 metres, Individual Medley and Freestyle for 400 metres
  • Training sets required for the next level
Completion Requirements:
Swimmers must successfully complete each unit of study to meet the course requirements and graduate with a Squad Three certification.
 
Squad Four Entry Requirements:
Squad Three certification or completed assessment from Swim am byth supervisors 
What you'll learn (units):
  • Competing at state championship level
  • Attendance of a minimum of 6 sessions per week plus land training sessions
  • Competency and composure shown for required drills
  • Racing form strokes for 200 metres, Individual Medley for 400 metres and Freestyle for 800 metres
  • Training sets required for the next level
Completion Requirements:
Swimmers must successfully complete each unit of study to meet the course requirements and graduate with a Squad Four certification.
 
Stroke Development Five Entry Requirements:
Stroke Development Four certification or completed assessment from Swim am byth supervisors 
What you'll learn (units): BARRACUDA
  • B - Be considerate to other members of the Club
  • A - Arrive at least 15 minutes early for sessions and be ready to start on time
  • R - Realise the importance of self-discipline to achieve success
  • R - Remember PBs and medals come from weeks/months years of hard work
  • A - Always listen to your coaches at training and competition
  • C - Compete aggressively but learn to loose graciously
  • U - Understand the importance of teamwork and teammates
  • D - Dedicate yourself to training and competition
